By Ian Mylchreest The Associated Press is now reporting that Harrah's has agreed to take the $90 a share offer from Texas Pacific and Apollo Management Group. Since the middle of last week, the company has been holding a marathon board meeting in New York, absent CEO Gary Loveman, to negotiate the final details of the buyout.

Monday, December 18, 2006 Casinos and smoke bans By Steve Sebelius Nevada's big casinos were notoriously absent from the debate over Question 5, the Nevada Clean Indoor Air Act, before the Nov. 7 election. And why not? A ban on smoking was very popular, polls showed, and it specifically exempted gaming floors. What was there to gain by fighting it?
