Day Six at the Tents

By Susan Stapleton

You have to admire a designer who attempts to create a collection that will take a woman from Brazil to New York to Paris in one season. Carlos Miele attempted just that. While the hot pink bomber should have stayed backstage, some of the perforated suede jackets and crocodile prints achieved their goal.

Designer Catherine Malandrino brought her show to the Chelsea Art Museum to make her move from crafty knits to mod ’60s looks. The models wore Betty Boop hairstyles that evoked that flapper feel that replicated itself in dresses with marabou skirts on shimmery shifts. Look for Malandrino at Outfit at the Wynn Las Vegas.

The scene:
Beth Ostrosky and Aisha Tyler sat in the front row.

Designer Cynthia Vincent creates clothes that you could envision normal women wearing. Her clothes don't get the big play out here since she's more of a Los Angeles designer with the same feel to her clothes. Definitely keep anything charcoal gray with volume in your closet for next fall.
