It may seem like a conflict of interest to tell you about this story, but … the New York Times is reporting that some big name companies are advertising on blogs.
Budget scattered ads for its treasure hunt Web site on 177 blogs because the company thought it was the best way to get at those in the young and tech-savvy demographic. And the whole campaign only cost $20,000.
If you’re searching the classifieds soon, don’t be surprised to see an ad for Monopoly. Hasbro, the game’s maker, is launching a new campaign to push the 70th anniversary edition of the real estate developers’ classic.
The advertisers said they knew the content on blogs was risky and much harder to control than traditional media but they found blogs that did not have “naked body parts.”
And if its good enough for big boys like Budget and Cendant (another blog advertiser), think what you could do with a blog advertisement. Of course, I don’t get paid any more if you decide to advertise here.
