The Transport Security Administration will announce later this week that it is relaxing rules about dangerous implements such as nail scissors and small tools, according to the New York Times.
The new rules are possible, says the TSA, because of improved screening and more secure cockpit doors. The government has collected tons of small tools and personal grooming aids since banning any sharp objects after the 9/11 terrorists took control of four jet planes by wielding box cutters.
Of course, it would be better if the TSA could 'fess up to the fact that the ban was pointless all along.
