Everyone knows the big stars have a second career here. It seems to be the case with former Paris restaurateur Joël Robuchon, reports the Los Angeles Times.
The three-star Michelin chef closed up shop in the French capital 10 years ago but now he's back at the MGM Grand with Joël Robuchon at the Mansion.
Food writer, S. Irene Virbila, raves over the food. She writes, for example: "With Robuchon, every bite is a revelation. His food has always had a clarity that's breathtaking. Everything tastes like itself, but more so. Somehow, he strips away the veils and trappings that characterize much of French cuisine to illuminate the essence of the raw materials."
The reviewer poses this very interesting question: "Could it be that Las Vegas, where the normal economic rules don't apply, is becoming a sort of protected game reserve for haute cuisine?" She points out that Robuchon has said that the market for haute cuisine is shrinking and that many star chefs are moving to casual dining.
Virbila also notes that the check was the most she's ever paid food in North America.
