The annual charity auction for a dinner with super-investor and uber-foundation trustee, Warren Buffett, has sold for $620,100, reports the Associated Press. That nearly doubles last year's price for the winner and seven friends to dine with the Berkshire Hathaway chairman at Smith & Wollensky's in New York.
The myster bidder is known only by his eBay handle, "fastisslow," The news service reports that the bidding really warmed up on Monday when Buffett announced plans to divest himself of much of his fortune by donating it to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
Still, it's only the second highest charity auction ever - Jay Leno raised more than $800,000 for tsunami relief when he auctioned a Harley Davidson motorcycle, which had been autographed by celebrities. With seven people in a syndicate and all taking the tax deduction, I can see how the meal deal could be put together but how do a bunch of friends share the bike? There must be one rich biker out there.
