It's the rest of the Hard Rock empire, not the Las Vegas bit on Paradise, that's been sold this time, reports the Associated Press. The Seminole Tribe of Florida, which already owns a couple of the hotels and the associated casinos, has bought the company for $965 million from the London-based Rank Group.
The tribe now owns 124 Hard Rock Cafes, four Hard Rock Hotels, two Hard Rock Casino Hotels, two Hard Rock Live! concert venues, and stakes in three unbranded hotels. And, it also gets the guitars from the rock greats like Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton and Chuck Berry.
Both sides were happy with the deal. Rank told the news service it had cashed out at the max and the ownership and economic diversification was a boost for the tribe. Of course, the local Hard Rock operation is now owned by Morgan's, a boutique hotel chain looking to get a footprint in Las Vegas. But as the Business Press noted a few months back, that resort's got a whole set of problems all its own.
