Quick Wynn update

By David McKee
March 19, 2007

Following the "Wynn Responds" dispatch (3/9/07), I have been contacted by quite a few people identifying themselves as Wynn Las Vegas employees and saying, in no uncertain terms that Wynn’s official position is … uh … let’s say "factually challenged." They take particular issue with the contention that surveillance video is available for employee viewing in 24 hours, saying that by the time it has been burned to DVD (a three-day process, apparently), four days have elapsed, not one.

On the other hand, the story of $90,000 in yellow chips going AWOL appears to have collapsed like an Ivana Trump condo project. As for The Mystery of the Red Envelopes, at least some of that is now being chalked up to a simple misunderstanding. However, new allegations of careless cash handling at Wynn Las Vegas continue to surface on an almost daily basis, so I’ll follow up on the more reliably sourced ones as time permits. As for management-employee relations at Wynn, perhaps somebody should job in Strother Martin’s character from Cool Hand Luke to explain the perils of failure to communicate.
